Guide
Is Ro legit?
A real business with a real prescription requirement. The question worth asking is what it dispenses and what it bills — $448 a month.
Updated 2026-09-18 · Prices verified independently
Why you can trust this: we take payment from one company on this page — Coreage Rx — when a reader signs up through our link. It does not change the prices we print or the rubric we score against, both of which are published in full on how we rate. Read our full disclosure.
Short answer: Ro is a real, operating telehealth business that requires a prescription and a clinician review, and there is nothing in what we checked to suggest otherwise. The longer answer is about what exactly it dispenses and what it charges.
"Legit" tends to mean two different things when people search it. One is "will I be scammed" — and on that, Ro behaves like a legitimate business. The other is "is what I am being sold what I think it is", and that is the question worth more of your time.
What we verified
- Ro Body membership is $39 for the first month, then $149/month.
- Membership does not include the cost of GLP-1 medication.
- Ro has exited compounded GLP-1s and works with FDA-approved branded products.
- Effective all-in cost commonly lands between $298 and $598/month depending on the medication and any insurance coverage.
- Cancellation requires notice before the renewal date.
All checked 2026-09-18 from published sources.
The five-point check
- Requires a prescription and a clinician review. Yes — Ro routes intake through a licensed clinician before anything ships. Any seller that does not is the single clearest warning sign in this market.
- Dispenses FDA-approved medication. Yes. Ro works with the manufacturer's own product, so the compounding question does not arise here at all.
- Names its pharmacy. Not applicable: the medication comes from the manufacturer.
- Publishes its ongoing price. Partly. The advertised figure is $149 and the billed figure is $448 — The membership and the medication are two separate bills. A $39 first month does not mean a $39 prescription.
- States what happens on cancellation. Less clearly than we would like. Check the terms before prepaying a multi-month plan.
What it costs, plainly
| Ro | |
|---|---|
| Advertised from | $149 |
| Membership | $149/mo |
| Billed monthly | $448 |
| Per year | $5,376 |
Where it falls short
- The $149/month membership buys no medication at all.
- Total cost is among the highest here for anyone paying cash.
- No compounded option for people who cannot afford branded pricing.
Red flags we did not find
- No prescription requirement — not the case here.
- Medication sold as "research chemicals" or "not for human consumption" — not the case here.
- Prices far below every other seller, which usually signals an unlicensed source.
- No way to contact a clinician after purchase.
- No named clinical leadership anywhere on the site.

Our verdict
Ro is legitimate in the sense most people mean. Whether it is *right* for you is a separate question, and it comes down to the $448 a month and the $149/month membership buys no medication at all. Our full assessment is in the Ro tirzepatide review.
